George Burke, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. George Burke has been the President and CEO of Sharp Corporation since 2000. Before joining Sharp, Mr. Burke had spent 26 years at B. Braun Medical, where he held many positions, including President and COO of the Medical Division from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Burke joined B. Braun as an Industrial Engineer directly out of school, and spent the next 26 years making his way up the corporate ladder. Mr. Burke graduated from Lehigh University in 1974 with a BS in Business Administration – Accounting, and also earned his MBA in Finance from Lehigh in 1980.
Jeffrey Benedict, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
C. Douglas Hill, Vice President of Operations
Mr. Douglas Hill has over 25 years of experience in the Packaging and Packaging Technology industries. Mr. Hill joined Sharp Corporation in 2002 after spending 8 years at Reynolds Metals Company from 1981 to 1989, 5 years at Graphic Packaging Company, Subsidiary of Adolph Coors from 1989 to 1994, and 8 years at Reynolds Metals / Alcoa Flexible Packaging from 1994 to 2002. Mr. Hill graduated from Villanova University in 1981 with a BS in Biology. He is also a member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP) and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE).
Barbara Ost, Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs
Barbara joined Sharp Corporation in August 2010 as the Vice President of Quality Assurance with general responsibility to providing corporate direction for quality activities at all Sharp locations, providing regulatory and GMP assessment for new and ongoing projects, and direction for GMPs, validation and clinical activities.
Prior to joining Sharp she was the Vice President of Quality Assurance for Bilcare Inc, a contract packager of Clinical Supplies located outside of Philadelphia. Ms. Ost had responsibility for compliance of the Global Clinical Supplies site in North America, and worked closely with affiliates in India and Wales. Barbara also worked for Merck & Co as the Associate Director of Worldwide GMP Compliance overseeing the areas of Quality systems and Clinical packaging including packaging release functions, labeling, distribution and contract packaging. In addition, Barbara worked for Johnson & Johnson for three operating companies (McNeil Consumer Healthcare, J&J*Merck and Advanced Care Products). During that time she held a variety of position including Project Management, Quality Release, Quality Assurance, Quality Process Improvement and Regulatory Affairs for devices, diagnostics, pharmaceutical products and Rx-to-OTC switch candidates.
Barbara is a graduate of Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA and holds a BS in biology. In 2010 she served on the Board of the Mid-West Clinical Supply Group. From 1991-1994 she served on the Board of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Division for the American Society of Quality and was the Board Chair in 1994.
Rick L. Seibert, Vice President of New Business Development and Engineering
With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Rick Seibert is the VP of New Business Development and Engineering at Sharp Corporation, where he spent the past 7 years. Also a former B. Braun employee, Mr. Seibert joined Sharp in 2004. Mr. Seibert graduated from Lehigh University in 1985 with a B.A. in Applied Sciences. He also received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1986, an M.S. in Manufacturing System Engineering in 1996, and an MBA in Management in 1999. Mr. Seibert received a post MBA Graduated Certificate in Pharmaceutical Marketing in 2006 from St. Joseph’s University and a Graduate Certificate in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Practices from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2007. Mr. Seibert also holds several Professional Certificates and Licenses, including: APICS and CPIM certification, Project Management Institute – PMP certification, and Six Sigma – Green Belt Certification from Villanova University.
David Thomson, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. David Thomson has served as the CFO for Sharp Corporation since 2000, when he joined Mr. Burke after spending 7 years at B. Braun Medical. With over 25 years of experience, Mr. Thomson also previously worked at Arthur Anderson & Co. from 1984 to 1986, and Marriot Corporation from 1987 to 1993. Mr. Thomson graduated from Lehigh University in 1983 with a BS in Business & Economics – Accounting, and also earned his MBA in Finance from Lehigh in 1984. Mr. Thomson has earned his CPA license in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and is a member of several organizations, including: the Financial Executive Institute (FEI), the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA).
